Not All Sheet Metal Fabrication Shops are the Same
Companies sometimes think of sheet metal as a commodity material, and of all sheet metal fabricators as being the same. In fact, they are not. A quality sheet metal fabricator can save your company time and money by getting everything right the first time. You have limited amounts of time and attention; using a worry-free fabricator lets you focus your attention on other matters.
The quality level of a sheet metal fabrication company is divided into two areas: reliability and precision. Specific applications may focus on one of these areas over another, but an effective fabricator must be able to provide both.
Precision includes a fabricator's ability to make their products to specification. It includes the ability to work with a wide variety of metals and to deliver a great product from shop drawings or hand-sketched details. The ability to work from hand-sketched details is a hallmark of a metal fabricator with years of experience, who can fill in some of the basic technical details from their own knowledge of your application.
Reliability is the ability of a fabricator to get everything right the first time. It isn't just about the fabrication process; a great fabricator has to get everything from order taking to quality control to shipping right on the first attempt. Some lower-quality fabricators can appear cheaper, but their errors can force you to stop work or spend time managing corrections. This can delay projects and costs employee time.
If you need sheet metal fabrication from a reliable shop who knows how to work with a variety of materials, and can even work with metal that you provide, please contact us.
Our Story in Architectural Sheet Metal
We are excited to tell you about our history, industry, and incredible team. It all started in 1984 when Lawson and Tom Dripps began fabricating metal for various roofing and glazing contractors in The Mahoning Valley. Through hard work and dedication, the Dripps Brothers created a reputation of craftsmanship, sustainability, and customer loyalty.
After 29 years and many satisfied customers, Related Metals LLC changed ownership. New President, Tom Froelich, announced the company will retain its name, commitment to customer service, and industry experience in order to remain a superior sheet metal fabrication contractor.
The change in ownership keeps one key foundation of Related Metals in place. We are still a local, family-owned, and family operated business. We have no outside investors, which gives us the ability to make business decisions based on industry best practices and excellent customer service as opposed to maximizing profit. Our goal is to expand on the legacy that came before us. Our plan to accomplish this is to base our decisions on:
- Industry best practices in architectural sheet metal
- Recognition that people work with and want to do business with people.
- Our employees and vendors also deserve the same.
- Timely and efficient quote and production turnaround times.
At this point, you might be asking, so what exactly does Related Metals LLC do? We are a full servicesheet metal fabrication shop. Our specialty is fabricating edge and trim details for the roofing, glazing, and masonry industry. In roofing our work can typically be found on the perimeter edge. This includes parapet wall coping caps, gravel stop fascias, gutters, down spouts, drip edges, and chimney caps. In glass and glazing, we make trim pieces, tracks, and closure strips. For the masonry industry, we provide through wall reglet counter flashings and scuppers.
We work with flat stock sheet metal consisting of galvanized steel, aluminum, and precious metals such as copper. Our craftsmen are skilled journeymen from Local 33 and take great pride in providing a product that satisfies the customer.
